How to grow tomatoes on your own It can be done in a space outside your window, balcony or in your kitchen garden. The process begins with choosing a high quality disease free seeds to be sown in when the cold weather has passed. The ideal place for the seedlings to grow should have proper sunlight, water supply and safety from winds. It is important to be sure that the soil is of good quality and rich in nutrients. Firstly remove the leaves from the bottom of the seeds and sow these in the soil covering the removed leaf spots. Be careful while planting about the roots and finally water the plant adequately. Few tips on taking care of tomato sapling Here are few pointers that will help with your ‘how to grow tomatoes’ adventure. • Be wary of the amount of water the plant receives, never flood the sapling and go for sprinkle irrigation at the base of the plant. • Keep a tab on weeds (unwanted plants) and remove them regularly. • Always take care that the sapling does not get infected with any diseases. A common disease that affects the plant is Early Blight (fungal disease) that occurs due to excessive water in the soil. • Another disease Brown Rot that happens due to drying out of the soil calls for apt irrigation. • Take caution to remove the leaves that are turning yellow to brown and start falling.
