Steve Burgess is a freelance technology writer, a practicing computer forensics specialist as the principal of Burgess Forensics, and a contributor to the just released Scientific Evidence in Civil and Criminal Cases, 5th Edition by Moenssens, et al. Mr. Burgess has three decades of experience providing data services as a pioneer in the data recovery & forensics industries.

Since 1985, Burgess has performed data recovery, electronic data discovery and forensic analysis on more than 15,000 hard disks and other digital media for firms and individuals in 22 states and several countries. Deposed as expert witness in many cases in California and Texas, testified as expert witness in several Superior Courts in California and Texas. Has run own labs for more than 20 years.

Burgess explains results and arcane computer technology in terms understood by the layperson, judge and jury.

Mr. Burgess has written and spoken widely and is a contributor to the comprehensive Computer Forensics section to the 5th edition of "Scientific Evidence in Civil and Criminal Cases," by Moenssens, et al.

Burgess is also the current President of the non-profit Foresight Institute of Palo Alto, CA
