Natasha Courtenay-Smith is an author, entrepreneur and media expert. She is the founder and director of the award-winning press agency, Talk to the Press, which helps ordinary people across the country sell their stories to newspapers and magazines, as well as managing the strategies of individuals caught up in the headlines. Since launch in 2008, the agency has helped hundreds of people sell their story or handle press attention. Talk to the Press was also featured on BBC Breakfast as well as a Cutting Edge documentary about women’s magazines. The agency regularly supplies stories to national newspapers and glossy magazines in the UK.
Since founding Talk to the Press, Natasha has won four business awards (and reached the finals of three more), including being featured on Management Today’s prestigious 35 under 35 list. Natasha has also appeared as a media expert on numerous regional radio stations as well as Radio 4 and BBC Radio Five Live, and can be seen reviewing the newspapers on ITV’s LK Today.
Natasha became a full time journalist in 1999. Prior to founding Talk To The Press, she worked on a number of women’s magazines and the Sunday Times in New Zealand. She has always specialised in human interest stories and real life interviews, and a portfolio of her work is displayed on this website. Click to find out more about selling your story to the press.
Natasha is also the founder of The Notting Hill Shopping Bag company, which supplies a range of eye-catching cotton bags to shops and stalls along Portobello Road. Each bag features a design of the area by local schoolchildren. In this project, Natasha has the support of a number of local schools as well as Portobello Road Market, who have granted stallholders an exclusive license to sell the bag. 10 per cent of profits from the Notting Hill Shopping Bag are donated to local good causes. Natasha lives in Notting Hill with her partner and two children.
