Mumbai was slowly getting heated up with the approaching summer. We were on a lookout for to get chilled for a day from the summer heat. One of our friends received an email describing about Holi celebrations at Panoramic groups Karnala resort. The offer of celebrating the festival on the huge surroundings of the resort against a nominal entry fee seemed to be a perfect match for us. When we contacted the resorts reception we came to that it was like a day’s package including food and drinks with the touch of a family function. The routine celebrations of Holi enjoyed in the society premises are only for names sake. So in order to experience a mass celebration of Holi, we were looking for some vibrant celebrations amidst crowds of celebrators enjoying the fun on the backdrop of traditional music. We were lucky enough that this venue of the Holi celebrations was not too far from the city. Travelling from Mumbai to Karnala resort itself is fun and entertainment. We were amazed by viewing the huge plot of land on which the resort is located. Since it is in the vicinity of the Sahaydris this isolated piece of land offers total serenity. When we reached the resort crowds of celebrators had just started mushrooming at the entrance of the resort. Everything seemed to be perfect at the resort. Four of our families were celebrating Holi for the first time in an open event. Packed with lot of curiosity to join the celebrations especially the kids were more anxious about when the event will start. With a casual announcement and wishing happy Holi to entire crowd, event started with the roaring DJ’s highlighting Holi songs. Initially we enjoyed the celebrations among ourselves but as the heat of the event started growing. We started getting mixed up with the crowd and since it was a descent mob of celebrators even the ladies had no hesitation in joining the celebrations exchanging colors or even dancing on the rhythm of roaring music. It was really an incredible experience for all the four families and we absorbed fun of the event to our fullest capacity. We were totally involved in the celebrations and even made a few friends who were also the residents of Mumbai and were coming to the resort since last few years. After some time we took a break and all of us gathered in the cottages we had booked earlier. The cottages were the best place to relax and have some delicious food specially prepared for the festival. We invited our new friends to our cottage and had long chats with them. The kids after having their food again rushed to the celebration area, while we relaxed for some time in the cottages. After some time the kids returned giving news of some competitions held for different age groups. We took part in the competitions and enjoyed them totally. There was a dancing competition for the children in which some of the kids offered superb performances. With all this fun and drama the day passed unnoticeably and after promising our new friends to join next year’s celebrations we packed off on a return journey.
