Making Homemade Carp Fishing Boilies With Potent Unusuallly Bioactive Flavours!

Sports,Recreation & Leisure,Boating
Powerful and unusual carp bait tricks are revealed here that will make your boilies and your other baits unique, perform better and taste even more stimulating to fish (plus have other profound effects that will really improve your catches long-term too!)

When most carp anglers think about flavours they mostly think of things like a brand name and flavour label such as Richworth Tutti Fruitti or Rod Hutchinson Scopex for instance. But there is much more to flavours than this. Many of the very best flavours contain genuinely potently bioactive substances - and do not consist mainly of a solvent base as most of second rate flavours do!

The aspect of bait many anglers forget is that of course material that helps faster passage of bait through carp and better digestion so encouraging further feeding on baits and more chances of hooking more fish. There are the obvious bait additives and ingredients such as seeds and nuts for example as well as crushed oyster and cockle shell and egg shell of course. These help open baits up and improve the exchange if bait substances dispersing from the bait as water is sucked into the bait hydrating it.

Certain flavours help water get sucked inside baits being hygroscopic, and substances like glycerol and alcohol flavours among others work to hydrate baits quicker thus spreading the flavours and other bait substances in solution faster so attracting fish to your baits. But quite apart from liquid flavours, it is a really good idea to ensure you include powdered flavours.

Powdered flavours mostly take longer to leach out of baits and disperse in water compared to liquid flavours so they extend the potent attraction of baits for longer durations of immersion. The old Nesquick milkshake powders are one idea used by many anglers over the years, but I now find this trick often produces smaller fish these days, and I was looking for instant alternatives not merely based on artificial flavours but natural flavours. These would ideally contain all the natural depth and richness of flavours and tastes and all the bioactive flavour components that produce these too.

I have been adding natural teas to my baits, PVA bag mixes and ground baits and even particles etc for quite a few years now and it really works well and the big fish seem to like them. You might think what on earth – tea in bait?! OK first off, green and black teas and things like nettle teas are bitter tasting, so you might think carp will not like them right?

But the big thing about them is they have great thermogenic effects and that means they speed up carp metabolism, provide a boost of energy, help relax the carp over all and even improve digestion too. Carp are obviously easier to catch when they are more relaxed and more energetic. You can get super-potent green teas from body-building companies that are much higher in catechins that speed up metabolism.

Similar things go on in fruit and spice based teas and these often are packed with natural sweet substances making them even more attractive and palatable. I have included a few examples of teas here just to show you how easy it is to add some added unusual flavour and potency to your baits of all kinds: Strawberry and mango, raspberry, strawberry and loganberry, cranberry, raspberry and elderflower, red berries fusion, peppermint infusion, lemon and ginger and cinnamon and apple. Some of my most favourite teas I have used in baits include: Strawberry and echinacea, cranberry and sanguinello orange, blueberry and apple, blackcurrant, ginseng and vanilla, peppermint and eucalyptus, cranberry and pomegranate, and spice and liquorice infusion.

Looking at ingredients of such products is revealing and shows you why they work; I choose the ones which have a label stating all natural ingredients! For example the Blackcurrant, ginseng and vanilla tea contains: hibiscus flower, orange peel, orange leaves, lemon peel, rosehips, natural blackcurrant flavouring, natural vanilla flavouring, liquorice root and ginseng.

Apart from the amount of sweet and fruit tasting substances in this particular tea mixture there are plenty of other things going on in it which will impact upon carp internally. This includes ginseng that boosts the immune system (one of the major benefits of using yeasts in baits) plus the potent antioxidant bioflavonoids in the fruit flavours and peels etc. Vanilla flavour is not to be underestimated either as it is the biggest-selling flavour in the world with good reason and liquorice root is obviously also a powerful sweetener I use a lot in my baits of many kinds.

Vitally importantly, these teas when used in dry powder base mixes soak up liquids and make a big differece in the ability of many baits to actually hold soluble attraction and become hydrated once cast out too. Sometimes I have added too much tea so the dough I am working on become very sticky. Baits like this can be extremely instant-acting indeed – at any time of year!

I drink on average 5 cups of fruit tea a day and I do not drink any caffeinated drinks at all. My teas consist of 6 bags of specifically-chosen mixed fruit, spice and herb teas per cup and add I nutmeg and cinnamon and other spices for various health-balancing and immunity-boosting reasons! These includes the huge amount of medical research that shows nutmeg when taken regularly helps regulate blood sugar levels and contains such potently bioactive substances that these effects keep working over 2 weeks after consumption has ended! This is a fact not lost on me in using it and many other substances which act so powerfully too within my carp baits - to achieve various competitive edges!

Many aquaculturists actually feed their carp on citrus peels as part of their diet with good reason and fish like carp are certainly drawn to fruit peel! (As an aside tip, try using all those boozy fermented fruit peels and fruits found in Christmas pudding in your baits – it is really potent stuff and are bought very cheaply after Christmas at a time thermogenic bait ingredients are at their best!)

You can add fennel and aniseed essential oils to your baits of course and they will improve bait performance and help attract and hold fish. But you can also include fennel seeds or sweet fennel tea made from crushed fennel seeds. I really rate this stuff and usually use it most in my hook baits and PVA bag preparations. While most bait makers seem to want to put the all too standard hemp seed and Niger seeds in their baits I use Trill and crushed CLO which nutritionally are far more than just a mixture of seeds! I add fennel seeds to this mix and it works really great in many bait base mixes! (For much more information see my website and biography!)
