When the majority of people think about the term 'Press Releases' they think about the involvement of the media . What people fail to realise is that Press Releases can also be used as a great way of getting getting quality inbound links to your website

Why writing a Press Release can be beneficial as part of your overall link building strategy

Getting quality one way links from other websites, gaining other links from websites that find you via your Press Release and getting placed in other relevant directories that will re-distribute your Press Release on your behalf.

How to write an Optimized Press Release

Define Your Keyword

When you are writing your press release, you must first choose a keyword that you would like to rank for. There are numerous free tools available for you to use to determine which keywords will receive the most traffic, including SEO Books Keyword Tool, Googles Keyword External Tool and ActualKeywords.com

Ensure that you pick a keyword that is relevant to your website. You must also ensure that your website receives a considerable amount of traffic every month, and finally that your keyword will be used on the page that your'e trying to rank for

The keyword that you have selected should also be placed in the title of your web page. It should also be used in a h tag, be included in the text body, and be used in your internal linking structure

Include Your Keyword Throughout Your Press Release

Once you have selected your keyword, it would be a good idea to write it out first as a rough draft of your Press Release. Make sure to use your keyword throughout the text of your Press Release

Your keyword should be included at the very least, in the header of your Press Release, between one and three times in the body area of the release, and at least once in your "About" section

Hyperlink Thoughtfully

Try not to use non-optimized keywords in your Press Release such as "Click Here". Instead, when you find one of the many Press Release Services that allow you to include hyperlinks in your Press Release, ensure that you hyperlink from the keyword that you have selected to optimize.

Not every Press Release Service will allow hyperlinking and html, but the vast majority will at least allow you to use backlinks to your own website in either the Resource, About Me or Contact Boxes

Consider Upgrading Your Press Release Company

At the end of the day, an upgraded membership will always provide significantly better options and results. Therefore, if you are presented with the opportunity to upgrade one of the services you have chosen to use, then you should definitely do so.

Most upgraded services will allow you to specify the anchor text to be used when linking back to your website. They also generally allow you to include hyperlinks that the free packages do not allow.

Research each upgraded service that you use aswell as they are not all equal. Things to take into consideration are the Page Rank of your chosen Press Release Service, the costs involved, the volume of traffic each service receives and the trust factors of each service available.

Distribute Your Press Release to a Variety of Services

Once you have decided to submit a Press Release for the purpose of link building, make sure that you maximise the effects by submitting your Press Release to a variety of Press Release Service Providers.

Many sites will automatically check wether your Press Release is genuine and 100% unique. These are the companys that you should generally distribute your Press Release to first

Start your campaign by using quality authority websites that have a good number of links to them. These are the ones that tend to get picked up by the press. And make sure that you avoid using any duplicate content at all costs.

And finally, it is imperative that you remember that it is the simple things that will get your Press Release picked up by other services. Things such as simply re-writing the header of a Press Release or changing a few sentences here and there can bring quality results.
