As Brexit gets closer and closer, haulage companies are growing increasingly concerned for the fate of the industry once England leaves the European Union. However, the Freight Transport Association (FTA) is running an event designed to help prepare logistics leaders for Brexit. The conference aims to tackle some tricky issues, such as what will happen if there is a ‘No Deal’ Brexit. This important event is called Keep Britain Trading, and aims to help smooth the transition the logistics industry is facing. Keep Britain Trading: What’s On The conference is intended to answer the burning questions of logistics managers regarding Brexit: such as whether haulage companies will have to apply for an International Haulage Permit; how Customs will work for EU traded goods; what are the predicted timings for changes, and more. Keynote Speakers The keynote speakers include the MP Robin Walker, who is Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Exiting the European Union. Also worth hearing will be the speakers discussing the points of view from Dublin and Calais, and assessing whether they are ready for Brexit. Workshops As the problem of maintaining supply chains between Britain and the European Union’s 27 other member countries is a high priority for many, the event will run sector-specific workshops dealing with supply chain problems. The conference will help managers decide when to start training staff for new Customs Declaration Systems, as well as whether they need to change their own status to ‘Authorised Economic Operator’ to help their business trade.
