Board and batten siding is a type of siding that can be installed either vertically (up and down) or horizontally (side to side). Thinner pieces of board are then laid atop of these to cover what is known as the “joins.” These are the places where two boards meet. The effect is one of depth. Board and batten is one of the classic siding types that does not seem to be falling from its extended stay on the popularity charts.
