Beyond La Plagne's Pistes: A Snowy Children's Playground

Travel & Tourism
Booking a family ski holiday when you’ve got young children can be a bit of a challenge. Let’s face it: with the costs of travel, equipment hire and ski travel insurance, you’re in for a somewhat expensive holiday, so you’ll want to make sure that the kids love it just as much as you do. To ensure that everyone has a blast, it’s best to book a holiday in a resort like La Plagne, which has a reputation for being particularly family-friendly. Let’s find out why!

Looking After Little Ones in La Plagne

One of the first things to consider when booking a family ski holiday is what childcare options are available – especially if you want to enjoy a bit of time out on the snow without the kids. From an excellent range of ski schools to nurseries that are happy to take children from around three months to two years of age, La Plagne certainly has childcare covered.

Family Accommodation

The great thing about this resort is that it’s been purpose-built to ensure that the accommodation is close to the pistes. This is particularly advantageous when you have young children, as you won’t have to worry about carrying sports equipment and walking in ski boots for long stretches. And, of course, quick access to your accommodation at the end of the day means that you’ll get to that hot chocolate that you’ve all been craving in the blink of an eye!

A lot of the accommodation here is self-catering apartments, which is often great for families: you can cook what you know your kids like and you have a communal space to gather in at the end of each day.

Out on the Slopes

The great thing about La Plagne’s winter sports area is that there are plenty of nursery slopes for the kids to learn on, as well as a good range of wide, easy beginner slopes, which are ideal for working on technique.

If you are looking for something a bit more challenging while the kids are in ski school, you can access the extensive Paradiski area, which links the resort to the nearby Les Arcs.

Post-Piste Fun

Of course, there’s more to a winter holiday than just skiing – you’ll want to hang out and have fun together after the lifts have closed, too. The good news is that La Plagne has plenty to entertain the kids, including:

• The Cascade de Tyrolienne zipline

• The Olympic bobsleigh run

• Amazing ice sculptures at the ice grotto

• An ice-skating rink

• Husky dog sledding

• A hair-raising toboggan run

What are you waiting for? Let the fun begin!

Be Safe and Get Covered

Family holidays are very enjoyable, but they do carry with them certain risks that make investing in ski travel insurance a vital part of planning. Whether you need to replace lost equipment or your children get injured, having the right insurance policy allows you to rest assured that you’ll be covered in case of an eventuality.
