Have you ever wondered about the benefits of graphology and how it works? If you're considering starting a career as a graphologist in San Diego, here are some facts you should know. Handwriting Analysis Is Considered a Forensic Science Although handwriting analysis has been used for entertainment purposes, such as at company parties, it is still considered a forensic science. What does this mean for someone interested in pursuing this career path? Well, it means that this is a job that will usually have you working, in some form or another, in the law enforcement industry. Handwriting Analysis Requires Specialized Training The majority of graphologists have degrees in the following fields of study: - Sociology
- Law
- Criminology
- Psychology
However, to be a qualified graphologist, you must receive certification and specialized instruction. To achieve this instruction, you'll need to find a program that teaches the ins and outs of handwriting analysis separate from your declared major. Graphologists Are Great Profilers An expert graphologist is not only a handwriting expert but a practiced profiler, too. Your handwriting can reveal a lot about you when it is analyzed by a trained eye. For instance, the thickness of the letters can tell the expert how much pressure was applied while writing and what you were feeling when you were writing those words. Handwriting that looks like it was written with a lot of pressure may indicate that the author of the note was feeling anger or aggression during the writing. On the other hand, someone whose penmanship is written with a light hand may have been carefree and relaxed when writing the letter. Handwriting Analysis Is Used in Many Industries Although this forensic science is generally used in the criminal justice system, handwriting analysis is also used in the private sector. Corporations may employ graphologists to analyze handwriting of potential job candidates or analyze the personalities of current employees. The Pay Grade Varies If you're a graphologist in San Diego, your pay will usually be determined based on your experience and the industry you're employed in. For example, handwriting experts that work in the criminal justice system may be paid significantly less than their counterparts working in the private sector. Although may people choose to work with one specific company, there are handwriting experts who freelance. Freelancing doesn't have the same job security, but it can mean a bigger payday and the ability to work with a variety of different types of clients.
