As the name suggests the basic difference between a ceiling speaker & wall speaker is that while former blends into the home décor leaving zero footprints, the latter confiscates greater space on your walls. While both Ceiling and Wall Speakers render great sound output and are installed as per the requirements of a place, we can differentiate between the two easily. As per the Home Décor: While Ceiling Speakers do not clutter with your home design, best Wall speaker generally hold larger space on your walls. No difference in sound output due to the size: As per the general misconception doing rounds in the markets, the wall speakers render greater sound output because of their bigger size which is not exactly the case here. Both kinds of Speaker give the same sort of sound with a little variation in the output because of their placement, not size. Placement matters: As stated above, placement of any speaker matters, so is the case with wall speakers or ceiling speakers. While in-wall or in-ceiling speakers cannot be moved around once installed, the sound produced circulates the room according to the placement. While ceiling speakers provide good background music just above the head, the best wall speakers can produce stereo output from right across the corner of a room at ear level. The only difference between the sound outputs if there is: Wall speakers have cone designed in a way that produces good sound quality and projection. However, as the ceiling speakers are installed overhead, they often lose the standard stereo output and projection. Besides a ceiling speaker doesn’t have a normal distribution of the audio signal but their tendency and capability to diffuse sound signal depends on the length and thickness of the wiring, i.e. the shorter and thicker the wiring is, the better is the sound output. A signal can easily deteriorate with thin wiring installed at long distances. Distinguishing the speakers on the basis of applications: Ceiling Speakers are integrated at corporate offices, lift lobbies, airports serving mostly the purpose of the announcement or background music. These are usually installed in large amounts. Wall Speakers are particularly suitable for home theater installations especially in a case of rear surround-sound output at ear-level. Thus, the choice between the ceiling speakers and wall speakers can be made keeping in mind the above-stated differences. Both of them have different sound output because of their general applications.
