Commercial pools have a whole slew of different problems than residential pools do. While both require regular maintenance and chemical testing, the level of care is completely different. To avoid serious problems and costly repairs, it’s important to ensure that potential issues are resolved as soon as possible. Here are a few of the most common issues commercial pool owners face and a few tips to help you remedy them. - Incorrectly calculating the volume of the pool. It’s your job as a pool owner to keep the water clear, clean, and enjoyable for all who come to take a dip. In order to perform proper commercial pool maintenance in Cumming, you have to keep things sanitary. Adjusting the chemicals of the pool is difficult to do if you don’t have the right volume of water calculated. Many pool owners simply use an educated guess to establish the size of their pool. Make sure that you know the exact size of your pool. This ensures that you adjust the levels of chemicals as needed. To start, you need to multiply the length times width times depth. Don’t guess; it’s important to physically measure each of these quantities. Then, take your resulting number and multiply it by 7.48. This gives you the number of gallons your pool holds. Once you have this exact number, it’s easier for you to adjust the chlorine level and adequately test the pH level.
- Not sealing chemicals correctly. Chances are you have a staff of employees that help you to test and adjust the chemicals in the water. Many times, these chemicals aren’t closed tightly after being used. This causes particles to seep out of the containers and cause rust and other issues. Protect your fixtures, electrical circuits, and doors by teaching your employees the importance of sealing and correctly storing chemicals following application.
- Inadequate airflow in the mechanical room. As the lifeblood of your pool, the mechanical room should be properly ventilated. Without airflow, your pool heater, motor, and pump could suffer. With the ability to breathe, your machines can’t function properly and could become clogged. To establish how much ventilation your mechanical room needs, add together the sum of ventilation needed of all of the appliances. This helps you to know how much combustion is required by the manufacturers to keep things operating correctly.
- Not obtaining site-specific information. Many facility owners use general information as a way to conduct and maintain their property. While general information does help to get a grasp of the knowledge needed to keep things running, it’s a better idea to find information that suits your specific pool. Ask a pool professional if you have a question or do some research until you find the right answer. Guessing or applying a general piece of information to the problem could result in an inefficient outcome.
As a business owner, you already have a lot on your plate. Don’t add “maintenance worker” to your ever-growing list of jobs. Instead, hire a company that specializes in commercial pool maintenance in Cumming. Not only will this give you peace of mind, but it ensures that all of the maintenance is handled professionally and correctly—no matter what your pool needs may be.
