Experience the Fall Foliage in These 5 Accessible Destinations

Travel & Tourism
I believe that the New York and New England Fall should be seen and experienced by everybody. During this time, the entire region is transformed as the foliage turns to vibrant gold, scarlet, purples, reds and oranges; this, and the crisp clean air, makes it perfect for exploring and soaking up the exhilarating atmosphere found at this time of year.

For those planning disabled access holidays to see the amazing colours of the Fall Foliage during autumn, these are my personal recommendations for the most amazing places to see the colours and natural beauty.

1. Lake George

The magnificent Lake George provides sublime views during the fall, with the electric blue water and skies creating a striking contrast with the twinkling yellow, gold and red foliage. This is an area of stunning natural beauty, making it a fantastic place to explore. Be sure to bring your camera, as you will be treated to some truly awesome views here. There are many excellent accessible hotels nearby and my team and I can help you to select the one most suitable for your needs.

2. Adirondack

If you are anything like me and have often searched for photos of the New England Fall, you will certainly have seen pictures of the jaw-dropping Adirondacks. The mountainous region in upstate New York comes alive with intense colours and there are many different events and activities to celebrate this spectacular time of the year. It is an enormous place, which allows for gorgeous and varied views and plenty of different areas to explore. There are also many accessible hotels and excursions in the region, enabling you to have a thrilling, fun and stress-free trip.

3. Finger Lakes

The popular Finger Lakes in central New York are a sight to behold at any time of the year, but during the fall they will take your breath away. The network of 11 long and narrow lakes can be travelled down for dazzling views, but you can also explore the surrounding area by car with many easy to navigate routes. Be sure to stop off for a picnic, where you can see the brilliant colours reflected in the waters and spend time simply enjoying the peace and quiet.

4. Rochester

A picturesque city in New York, many “leaf-peepers” descend on Rochester during the fall and it is easy to see why. Not only do the gorgeous hues make for spectacular views, but there are also many superb festivals that take place each year. This creates a fun and magical atmosphere in the town which is not to be missed. Being a city, it also makes Rochester an ideal place for those on disabled access holidays as it can be highly accessible and there are many great activities and sights to see.

5. Niagara Falls

The world famous towering waterfalls that straddle the United States and Canada; the Niagara Falls are an astonishing sight and many people who have travelled with my team identify this as their favourite place. Although beautiful throughout the year, during fall season you are treated to a kaleidoscope of twinkling colours which contrast the dramatic waterfalls and creates postcard-esque vistas. Not just this, but the city comes to life with festivals and events and these can be easily accessed by wheelchair. There are also many excellent accessible hotels in the area to choose from.

These are my 5 favourite places to experience the awe-inspiring New York State Fall and the nearby areas have many hotels and excursions with disabled access. Holidays like this are terrific for adventure seekers - contact my team today and we can advise you on how to make the most of your trip.
