How to Become a Travel Competition Winner: Part 2

Travel & Tourism
If the thought of travelling to beautiful, exotic destinations is something that interests you, travel competitions may be just the ticket to you finally taking that much needed holiday. Many organizations use contests as part of their marketing efforts to promote their products or services and gain a bigger following.

As the second part in a two part series on tips to being a travel competition winner, I have put together a few more ideas to get you thinking about the advantages of entering and which ones provide you with the best chances of winning.

Simple or Challenging

Some travel contests have a very quick and easy entry process for participants, such as providing a name and email address. This takes little effort to enter and can be completed in the moment. The drawback to these contests is that their ease of entry attracts many people, upping the competition and lowering your chances of winning. Participating in sweepstakes that require more work to enter may actually be an easier way to becoming a travel competition winner.

Most people who happen upon a contest that requires extra work will not go for it for a variety of reasons, including the time commitment, skills required or lack of confidence in producing a quality entry, whether it be a photo, a written article or video. You may also have your own limitations, such as a lack of social reach if a competition win is based on the number of “likes” your submission receives and your social media following isn’t strong.

In each instance, assess the requirements and decide for yourself whether or not the work you will need to put in is worth the prize. If you decide the reward is worth the time and effort, give it your best. All your hard work will be worth it in the end if you are announced the travel competition winner!

Get Creative

If you are someone who is motivated by a challenge, the competitions requiring some additional work may be just up your alley. You are going to have to tap into your creative side to think of a way to participate in the sweepstakes that is unique and grabs the judges’ attention.

Search online for an announcement of a past travel competition winner. Companies that hold competitions will often post the winning entry, whether it be a funny video or a photo that captures a particular theme. See what others have done to win to spark some new ideas of your own.

Consider asking some friends or family to get in on the creative process. As they say, two heads are better than one - and in this case the saying is certainly true!

Smaller Competitions

Although it is true that, in most cases, the more difficult the requirements for entering a contest, the better your chances of becoming a travel competition winner, there is an exception. Some travel sweepstakes are more well-known than others, due to a company’s promotion budget or just the sheer size of their audience. Finding those lesser known contests can increase your chances of winning, simply due to a smaller number of people entering.

Whatever the type of travel competition you decide to participate in, entering is the main point. Remember that every contest has a winner, so it might as well be you!
