Relaxed Sophistication and So Much More!

Business

Located adjacent to the southwest border of the city of Phoenix, Arizona, the city of Goodyear features nearly 200 square miles of plains and rivers. Goodyear also sits at the base of the beautiful Estrella Mountains, where one can find some of the best hiking in the state. This rich and fulfilling quality of life, along with an incredible community spirit, warranted Goodyear the recipient of two impressive national awards. In June of 2008, the city was awarded the All-America City Award, sponsored by the National Civic League, which recognizes those cities whose citizens work together to ascertain and solve community-wide challenges.  Also in 2008, Goodyear was given the City Livability award by the United States Conference of Mayors, which is presented to mayors and their city governments for developing programs that enrich the quality of life in urban areas. Certainly, this is a wonderful place to vacation but it also is a great place for those looking to live here or retire here, such as at a Goodyear, AZ, retirement community.

Living Excellence

One could say that Goodyear is a place of relaxed sophistication, where anyone will feel at home almost immediately and the year-round warm and sunny weather is just an added bonus, appreciated particularly in the winter months when other parts of the country are digging out of one snowstorm after another. Though over 40% of the population is in their prime working years of 25-54, Goodyear is also becoming an attractive destination for those who look to retire here. Given that this city of 75,000 people represents just ten percent of the build-out population that is projected to exceed 100,000 by 2020, there is plenty of room for growth and expansion for future retirement communities. In addition, according to a most recent Citizen Satisfaction Survey, 97% said that they feel safe in their neighborhood, 96% said Goodyear is an excellent to good place to live, and 91% of the residents are happy with the overall quality of life.

Yet, as of 2014, that survey only scraped the surface of what has been attributed to this 6th fastest growing city in the country. The financial news and opinion company, 24/7 Wall Street, gave Goodyear a highly-touted 7th place ranking as one of America's Top 10 Best Cities to Live. To determine America’s best cities to live in, data on 550 U.S. cities with populations of 65,000 or more, as measured by the U.S. Census Bureau, were reviewed based on variables that included crime rates, employment growth, and access to restaurants and entertainment venues, just to name a few. In their annual study, NerdWallet, a company focused on helping people lead better lives through financial education and empowerment, ranked Goodyear as the third best city in the nation for veterans, based on its economic opportunity criteria for veterans. Add to this the national real estate firm Movoto’s recently ranking Goodyear as one of its top 10 "Best Places Near Phoenix for Young Professionals," and anyone can see that Goodyear is a great place to live for young and not so young alike.

What’s Good about Goodyear

Being just 20 minutes west of downtown Phoenix, Goodyear offers all the advantages of living in a mid-sized community of palm-lined streets with all the cultural and entertainment resources of a major metropolitan area such as Phoenix. Residents are among the most affluent and best educated in the state, with an eclectic population mix of singles, families, empty-nesters in their golden years, and white-collar workers and executives. More than 300 sunny days per year guarantee an active year-round lifestyle for all, but there’s more as well. In order to create a distinct sense of place and cultural destination, the Goodyear City Council established the Arts and Culture Division in 2006, which manages the city’s public art program and coordinates with the private sector and other governmental agencies in promoting arts and cultural excellence and thus adding to Goodyear's economy and quality of life. Just about anyone who is looking to settle down in one of the best cities in the country can find a slice of paradise here, especially retirees who will find a Goodyear, AZ, retirement community one of the best anywhere!
