If you’re looking for luxurious Bermuda accommodation, then Southampton parish has a lot to offer. Sitting on the highly regarded South Shore, it’s very popular with discerning travellers. When it comes to luxury accommodation on Bermuda, the following three establishments are usually towards the top of the list. The Fairmont Southampton Located in around 100 acres of parklands, verdant with palm trees and bougainvillea, few hotels have the same visual impact upon first arrival. The Fairmont Southampton sits almost directly on some beautiful pink sandy beaches and has a special exclusive floor, the “Fairmont Gold Floor”, which is unofficially referred to as ‘a hotel within a hotel’. This exclusive Bermuda accommodation offers sea views from many of its guestrooms, which come equipped with the ultimate in private marble bathrooms, beautiful balconies and true walk-in closets. As you might expect, the in-house recreational facilities are first-class, including a beach club, diving centre, tennis courts and a steam spa with an associated fitness centre. The young ones aren’t ignored either, as the hotel has a great kids’ camp. The Pompano Beach Club Bermuda Another gem of this part of the islands is the Pompano Beach Club. Set alongside the Port Royal Golf Couse and above a beautiful small bay, the hotel specialises in relaxed but exclusive style. Formality isn’t required here! The hotel boasts ocean views from every guest bedroom and it’s a just a short stroll to the first tee of the top-rated public golf course on the island. For those of you that love history, it’s also close to the fascinating Royal Naval Dockyard. This hotel not only offers a range of great recreational facilities including diving and sailing, but this lovely family run Bermuda accommodation also has a reputation across the islands for its great cuisine. The Reefs One of Bermuda’s best-known hotels, The Reefs has sat looking out over extensive pink sands and ocean since 1947. That lineage is important because you can be sure the accumulated expertise will offer you the ultimate in care and attention. The rooms are beautifully equipped and the range of leisure facilities is impressive, including tennis, cycling, a fitness club and of course, a superb swimming pool. There are a range of suites and cottages available for your Bermuda holidays too. The hotel’s proud boast is that it makes its own rules and few would argue with that. It also has a reputation for excellent dining. How to Get There All of the above hotels are located at between 40-50 minutes of the international airport by taxi. Prestige Holidays provide private transfers to and from the airport. Scheduled flights to Bermuda from the UK are via British Airways with a journey time of around 7 hours. More airlines fly to the islands from North America, with flight times of around 2-4 hours from several East Coast US and Canadian hubs. Depending upon your destination hotel, it is great fun to use the ferries to get around from one part of the islands to another. In terms of the weather, there is no real ‘rainy season’ but short, intense showers aren’t unknown so it’s usually advisable to have a lightweight waterproof top with you.
