Step 2: Check again in your state bar association and ask what family law attorneys they could recommend. When you are provided with a list, make a comparison with what you got from the Yellow Pages; you may want to inquire about any complaints that may have been filed against any candidate you are considering.
Step 3: Ask for referrals from your close friends and family and especially those who may have hired child custody attorneys in the past. This will give you additional recommendations as well as some accounts regarding their interaction and whether or not they would recommend them to anyone else.

Pay special attention to the way the lawyers interacts with you; you want to deal with a custody attorneys who is professional, friendly and is also interested in the specific details of your case. Don’t forget to discuss the payment options and what they normally require upfront.
Step 7: Finally, sit down and make comparisons from all the candidates. It is important that you decide what aspects are important to you so that you go with the custody attorney who will most likely benefit your situation.
