Los Angeles is a pretty famous town. With many of the shows on TV coming to you directly from LA, the Hollywood sign being an iconic landmark, and many movies shot on sets in the city, Los Angeles is filled to the brim with famous people, things, and scenes in movies. But, another reason why Los Angeles is one of the biggest and baddest cities in the world is for its top notch theaters and shows. If you are headed to LA in the next while, here are a few suggestions for some of the best theaters and shows to visit while you are visiting the sunniest city in the world. A Noise Within According to timeout.com, A Noise Within is a favorite of LA locals—a whopping 31% chose this to be their favorite theater in LA and for good reason. Known as “one of the nation’s premier classical repertory companies,” according to the Huffington Post, A Noise Within offers some of the best drama in LA county and its mission is to “educate and inspire the public through programs that foster an understanding and appreciation of history’s great plays and playwrights.” This theater was founded in 1992 and originated in the former Masonic Temple in Glendale before they moved to their current location. Visit today and experience Romeo and Juliet until May of 2016. Chocolate Sundaes Chocolate Sundaes is a must visit comedy venue in Los Angeles, right on Sunset Blvd. Though the name sounds a little chillier, this is a hot venue and takes place every Sunday evening at the Laugh Factory at 8 PM and 10 PM. There are many huge names that play at this venue, like Katt Williams, Dave Chappelle, Jamie Fox, Chris Rock, Chris Tucker, Dane Cook, Kevin Hart, and more. Be sure to get tickets early as this venue sells out fast for comedy in Los Angeles! LA Theatre Center The LA Theatre Center is a “vibrant world-class cultural arts center reflecting the rich diversity of the Los Angeles area.” Their mission is to produce diversity in their programming to make it easy for all cultures to discuss artistic problems together. They constantly commission new plays and support new actors and writers, providing art education and cultural exchange for people around the globe. The LA Theatre Center is a facility of the city of Los Angeles and is operated by the Latino Theater Company. Be sure to look at their website to see what’s new and up and coming. Bootleg Theater The Bootleg Theater is another theater in LA that is sponsored by the LA County Arts Commission and the Department of Cultural Affairs that is referred to as an “art space” rather than a traditional theater and focuses on live experiences that are contemporary and non-traditional. Bootleg Theater was originally built as a bra factory in the 1930s before it became Bootleg Theater in 2000. If you want to experience “brave, boundary-pushing, artistically outstanding” theater, be sure to visit the Bootleg Theater. Walt Disney Concert Hall Lastly, the Walt Disney Concert Hall is the home of the LA Philharmonic. The Concert Hall is a national landmark and is one of the most acoustically sophisticated concert halls in the world. Designed by architect Frank Gehry, this stainless steel behemoth is a unique and striking landmark of Los Angeles. Built thanks to Lillian Disney and the Disney family, orchestras around the world visit this architectural beauty to perform classical pieces for thousands of attendees. If you are looking for a great LA weekend, including comedy in Los Angeles or theater and music, look no further than these wonderful theater and performance troupes.
