All council run nursing care homes are actually registered for providing care and they are required to meet similar standards as voluntary and private care homes. However, officers have come up with recommendations of retaining Cysgod y Gaer that is based in Corwen. The proposals for shutting down council run care homes sparked off tremendous concerns among the public in general. Around 200 people turned up in Corwen for a public meeting to show solidarity among the people, who feel that it is a shame to close down these care homes. It is believed that over 100 people showed up to protest against the bulldozing plan in Awelon. Numerous leaflets have been distributed and petitions have been organized to protect these homes because people still firmly believe that there is a bright future for these council run nursing care homes.
