Ayurved is the ancient treatment method of India that works on the eradication of the problem, instead of treating external symptoms. The mixture is filtered and kept aside. Specific quantities of Sugar candy, honey or jaggery are added to it. The proportions are referred from the ancient Ayurvedic books. The mixture is filtered again to remove the impurities. Fermenting agents are added to the mixture (typically Dhataki flowers or Madhuka flower). It is kept in a warm place under the heap of husk in a tightly closed jar. Usually, 15 to 45 days are required to make proper arishta. Sweetening agents get converted into self-generated alcohol due to fermenting agents. Dashmoolarisha, Ashwagandharishta and Draksharishta are some examples. Asavas In Asavas, herbs are taken directly instead of soaking and filtering. The remaining process is same as Arishta. Asavas also contain self-generated alcohol and not exceeding 10 to 15 percent. Lohasava, Drakshasava and Vasakasava are some examples. Several companies make Ayurvedic products referring ancient literature that explains the method in detail. Standard recipes are referred to make good quality medicines. Asavas and Arishtas are combined with Vati (tablet) and Churnas (powdered mix of herbs) to treat ailments.
