As a carpet cleaner of Friendswood TX I do my best to educate clients on the importance of each step through my cleaning process. In the post we will specifically discuss what a power scrubber is, the benefits of power scrubbing carpet, why a ‘power’ scrubber is necessary, and when it is not necessary. What is “power scrubbing”? Power scrubbing carpet is when we use a floor buffer to agitate the carpet. Instead of having polishing pads or discs on the bottom of it, we switch it out with a large brush head designed specifically for carpet. This brush head rotates at one hundred seventy five rotations per minute. This is a form of mechanical agitation. It has two purposes, firstly to work in the cleaning detergent, firstly to agitate the carpet, work in the cleaning detergents, and help soil separate from the fibers. Secondly, it is also highly effective at removing ground in soil, specifically hair of both humans and animals. So not all cleanings need this type of scrubbing but many cases call for it. The power scrubbing step is a mid-step in the full cleaning process. The full process includes dry vacuuming as you would with regular maintenance, application of cleaning products, agitation (use of a floor scrubber in this case), steam extraction, and drying. Now that you know what power scrubbing is, what kind of carpet would need this kind of cleaning? As carpet cleaners in Friendswood TX we encounter floors that need power scrubbing when children are present, pets are present, or years have passed since the last professional cleaning. When children run in and out of the house, play sports, or are just acting like kids they tend to get the carpet pretty dirty. Children have more incidents because they are learning, tend to play outside more than adults, and are always trying something different that may not be the best idea for the floors. Letting your pets outdoors to use the bathroom is another thing that will impact the condition of your carpet. Each time you let ole Dusty out to the bathroom, he comes back in with dirt and soil on his little paws. It’s never much but how many times did he wipe his feet off on the rug before walking all over the carpet? You can see where that goes. But dirt isn’t the biggest issue with pets, it’s the times they don’t make it out of the door in time or when they get sick in the middle of the night or while you’re at work. As a pet owner, I know you understand. Just to top it all off, you have to deal with shedding too. In a few cases I have encountered homes where the carpet was heavily soiled all the way across every room. This was from a build up over time. No major stains were present or visible to say that a specific source cause the carpet to become highly soiled. This is what happens over time, the carpet just gets dirty and the longer you wait, the dirtier it gets. In all of the cases mentioned above, using a floor buffer to power scrub the carpet is necessary to break loose the soils and allow the cleaning products to work more efficiently. Consider this: When you wash your hands, do you take a moment to scrub them together while they are soapy and wet? Or do you just squirt soap on them and rinse? Of course you rub your hands together and of course we use our floor scrubber. While carpet cleaning in Friendswood TX our power scrubbing method is only used when necessary. This method, though aggressive, is very safe and extremely effective.
