There’s no denying that Teen Mom Leah Messer has many problems on (or in) her hands. With two ex husbands, estranged daughters, endless tantrums and dramas, many legal issues and a propensity for pill popping, Leah Messer is not just ready for court but drug rehab too. In fact, getting custody of her children may be the least of her current issues. The trailer for MTV’s upcoming Season 6 of "Teen Mom" fittingly has the lyrics “you’ve got a long way to go” playing in the background. It is no doubt that Messer does have a long way to go. The road to recovery is a long road, whether it’s taken in Los Angeles or on the East Coast. According to tabloids and radar online, Messer is currently in rehab and receiving treatment. It is unclear how her treatment plan will play out in this upcoming season premiering July 9. In the new season teaser, it is clear that people are starting to call her out. Others have already called her an “unfit mother” in the show, but now she is also singled out as an abusive drug user. In the clips, Messer’s ex husband attempts to confront Messer about her drug abuse and encourages rehab. According to radar online, a source says, “She’s confessed to Jeremy that she has a problem, and knows she has no other choice to go to rehab.” Drug rehab centers everywhere from Los Angeles to other countries commit to the idea that admitting you have a problem in the first step. However, there seem to be many steps left in Messer’s recovery. Alongside figuring out the endless dramas and allegations of her two cheating ex husbands, and trying to become a more supportive mother of her two children, Messer must deal with the most important problem at hand. As Season 6 seems to show, she can’t confront any of her other issues until she confronts her drug abuse. Messer’s prescription and painkiller habit has been a reoccurring theme on "Teen Mom." She has allegedly been abusing Lortab and Percocet, drugs which are available in her hometown and pretty much everywhere in the United States including Los Angeles. According to drugabuse.gov, 52 million people in the U.S. above the age of 12 have abused prescription drugs, which means using them for non-medical reasons. This translates to roughly 6.1 million people abusing in the last month. Painkillers are the most commonly abused out of prescription drugs, as Messer’s behavior seems to indicate. Tune in July 9 from Los Angeles or anywhere in the U.S. to see if Messer may be able to overcome her drug problems…or be caught popping the pills once again.
