Keeping the inside of your home looking fresh and new is definitely a challenge. With sunlight making your wall color fade, and with general wear and tear of everything else, it can be tough to keep it from looking aged or out of date. Here are some improvement tips that will help make your home continue to look new. Use Fresh Paint. Wall color is one of those things that really age a room. Often, trendy colors painted on your walls can make your home look old more quickly. “By keeping up-to-date with your paint colors, you can be sure that your rooms don’t look like they are outdated,” said Greg Flanagan, owner of Edina Painting Company. “Even if you have neutral colors on your walls, colors fade due to sunlight and other natural causes. It’s a good idea to re-fresh the paint on your walls every few years to keep the color fresh and intact.” Install Bright Windows. Natural light is a big help when it comes to keeping your home looking new. If you are considering changing out the windows in your home, think about choosing ones that would accent the natural sun light for each room. Along with utilizing the light from your windows, be aware of and consider your window treatments. Fabrics, such as curtains, can go out of style quickly. “Choosing window treatments that are more timeless will allow you to not have to worry about out dated curtains,” said Chris Ochs of Windsor Companies, a Minnesota landscaping organization. “Also, window treatment placement plays a crucial role in the brightness of a room. If your curtains or blinds cover up most of the light coming in through the window during the best parts of the day, your rooms may seem smaller in comparison to having more open treatments.” Re-Arrange Your Décor. If you are the type who wants to re-vamp on a dime, then this is certainty the option for you. “Take inventory of all the items in each of your rooms. Make note of the versatile pieces (that don’t need to be room or color specific) and place them in a different room than they were originally in,” said said Barb Tresbesch of Corporate Mechanical. “Just by re-arranging what you already have around your home can make you feel like you have completely redecorated, without having to purchase anything. Do this as often as you would like. When people come to visit they will notice that you have redecorated.” Clean Your Carpets. “Carpets can get pretty worn looking, pretty quickly. When this happens they look old, having an effect on the entire room. Having a carpet cleaning routine will keep bringing your carpets back to life. Plus, regular deep cleaning will allow you to replace your carpets less often,” said David Fohrenkamm, Director of Operations at 651 Carpets, a Minnesota carpeting company. The quality of our home is often viewed by how new it all looks. By utilizing some of these easy steps, you are sure to improve the look of the inside of your home. Whether you are increasing the lighting or freshening up the paint, it will be a noticeable difference. Each small improvement is just one step in keeping your home looking fresh and new.
