The older folk in society are the pillars who guide us and give us advice. Thus, they need our care and protection when they are in their sunset years. One way of doing this is placing them in care homes. A care home is a facility where a number of adult senior citizens can live together and be given personalized care and services. These care homes provide these old folk with lodging, meals and in some cases medical care. The care homes provide the senior citizens with professional care, food, interesting activities and games as well as overall health supervision. They can even engage in exercise such as aerobics and going on field trips as well. Relationships between the staff and the residents of care homes The staff in a care home does more than just take care of the old people. They complete documents such as paperwork and forms for various agencies that deal with the old folks living in the care homes. There needs to be a balance between the formal paperwork and supporting relationships in care homes between staff and the old folks in the care homes. Thus, the staff should be given ample time away from the paperwork to focus on other activities interacting with the residents. For example, the staff in leadership positions should be allowed more time away from paperwork so as to focus on conducting leadership activities like showing the other staff how to interact with the senior citizens. Also, the management of the care homes should place higher value to the care provided by the staff in creating healthy relationships in care homes than completion of paperwork. This allows the staff members to practice their skill in taking care of the senior citizens more than spending time completing paperwork. In addition to that, the staff of the care homes should be judged according to their ability to take care of the residents and not their ability to complete paperwork. This allows them to be proud to create and foster relationships between them and the residents. The care home should have schedules that allow the staff to spend more of their daily time caring for the senior citizens than doing other things for example administrative duties and paperwork. This promotes the emotional relationships between them and the residents of the care home. The main purpose of the care home is to provide the senior citizens with care, love and respect during their sunset years. As such, the staff should be allowed to do this and trained by their leaders more than anything else. The various services provided at care homes The residents of the care homes care home bath are provided with a number of special services. One of these is their accommodation. They can enjoy fully private or semi-private rooms. Also, they are able to have 1 to 3 balanced and delicious meals. The staff at the care homes can provide them with housekeeping services. They also help to do the laundry for the old folks living in the care homes. They also have medical practitioners on site who assist the elderly with their medications.
