Most solar systems and devices that call for rechargeable batteries are going to really want lithium ion batteries and AGM batteries. The lithium batteries, and specifically the AGM Marine batteries, have been specifically designed for recharging. What is the different between lithium batteries and AGM batteries? Lithium ion batteries and AGM Marine batteries are both rechargeable battery types. The main difference is the size and power each holds. Lithium batteries are generally used for small appliances and devices. The larger AGM batteries are used with solar systems, in marine applications and to power vehicles. Only AGM Marine batteries don't have the cold crank rating typically, they make up for it with the deep cycle capability. How long do the lithium ion batteries last? While lithium batteries are preferred for most small devices because they last much longer than other types of battery cells, the rechargeable lithium ion batteries can provide much of the same lifespan provided that you follow the right procedures with them. It is true that lithium ion batteries will “learn” what full means by the way that you recharge them. If you are always placing the lithium batteries on the charger, what it will learn to detect as full and empty will become a narrower range. This doesn't mean that you have to be careful about fully depleting them before recharging each time, but if you do want your lithium ion batteries to last as long as your lithium batteries do, then make sure that the first for charges are done after the battery has been completely drained. It only takes 3 or 4 full charges to establish the baseline memory for the batteries. You can also purchase pre-made packs of the lithium batteries or AGM marine batteries too. These packs are used to run different solar and marine appliances, plus the combined battery packs with the AGM are common in vehicles too.
