While enhancing their living rooms, people usually prefer to install curtain rods that can seamlessly match with the overall decor of the house. Nowadays, there are different styles of rods available. You can either wish to purchase simple decorative rods or traverse curtain rods that come with a pulley system, which makes it easy to open and close the drapes by just pulling the wand. Some of the hardware of these rods operates through a side draw whereas others make use of center draw. The layout of the drapes while using these rods will be such that an S-shaped pin attaches to the pleats on your drapes with a hook end that can be seen through the small hole in the hanger. Since the hangers used are made of plastic, they can break or wear out easily when exposed to sun or with the passage of time. However, these hangers are not very expensive and can be easily purchased and installed in just a few minutes time. Once they grow of their age, you can replace them to initiate a proper functioning of your rods and curtains. This article discusses methods through which you can replace your old, worn-out hangers with new ones. • Whether you are using single or double traverse rods, it is first required for you to detach the panels of the drapes from the corner of the bracket to expose the traverse rod on the side which has the hanger broken. By lifting the hooks, continue to remove the drapes from the corner of bracket. • Once you are done with their removal, now detach the hooks from the hangers and set the drape in one side to expose the hardware, rod and ring hangers. To avoid the loss of any pins, which might be stuck in the seams of the pleats, fold the drapes and keep them aside. However, if you think that your curtains need some cleaning, carefully remove the hooks and from the pleats. • The next step is to unlock the rod, which can be done by pressing down the tab on the pulley located on the either side of the rod. This step helps you to easily slide sling hanger off the rod. Now slide the hanger over the housing and through the hole provided, lift it out carefully. • Through the open end, remove the broken plastic hangers and replace them with new ones. Now fit the new hangers through the end of the rod and the slot. Just ensure that the hanger faces in the forward direction. • Once the entire process is over, reattach the drapes or curtains on the traverse rods by inserting the hook end from the s-shaped pin, which can be seen on the backside of the pleated drapes. The same process can be followed with extra-long traverse rods. However, be carefully while reattaching the drapes as the s-shaped hooks has a sharp pointed end, which can get poked on your finger.
