Instead of yelling at them for not being able to understand Math, try and be encouraging. Talk to your child and understand the things he or she finds difficult and try and help with an easier way to solve the problem. As a parent, you may also want to avoid talking negatively about Math in front of your kid. Phrases like "I hated Math", "Math has not really helped me", "I am not a Math person" and so on can create a mind block in the child, and it's all downhill from there. Ensure that you always talk to your kid and encourage them to work hard on their Math; this can be an added impetus to study hard. If your child cannot see the practicality of learning Math, it is your duty as a parent to make him understand the importance of Math in everyday life. If you take your child shopping with you, let him figure out the price difference between two items, ask him to add up and tell you the total amount spend on grocery stuffs. You can ask him to divide the cake so that each of the family members can have two pieces each. Now by doing these you are not only helping him do Math but are also helping him understand the practicality of it. A parent's job is definitely a tough one. You always want your child to do well in their academics because you understand the importance of it. However, pressurising your kid to perform without helping them practically would give no good results.
