As much as we’d all like to, not everyone can afford to buy a new car. But sometimes keeping our old one can be equally expensive when it starts to go wrong. Older cars have more expensive parts because they aren’t as easily accessible and they could cost more to fit (depending on the age/condition of the vehicle). So with this in mind, here are some great alternatives to buying a brand new car… Car Leasing Car leasing is the number one option for anyone who doesn’t want to buy a new car but still wants to drive one. You pay a fixed monthly fee for a contracted period of time and once that time is up, you can start a contract on a different new car or maybe even buy the leased car out if you can afford it by then. Bike Ride Riding a bike around is simple, cheap, and great for exercising those legs! If you plan to replace your car with a push bike then ensure to also buy the necessary accessories such as a crash helmet, high-visibility jackets, a light for both the front AND back of the bike, and proper cycling clothing that can be changed out of when you get to your destination (you don’t want to snag your trouser legs on the chain and have an accident, do you?) Public Transport Depending on how accessible your destinations are public transport can be much easier than owning a car. You can go to work etc. via bus or train and just relax with a newspaper instead of sitting in traffic, trying to stay awake. Good, old fashioned walking You see those weird things attached to your ankles? Those are your feet and they’re designed to get you from point A to point B. We often push aside the joys of a good brisk walk and I think it’s time to be reminded. If you don’t have too far to travel then make the most of your feet, get some exercise and see more of the world instead of whizzing past it every day.
