Some of you all want to know where to find an RC car for mudding. The most important thing is to find a car that is considered “waterproof”. Really there isn’t a car that is completely waterproof, more like water resistant. Just about the most popular truck out there for mud/snow/water, is the Traxxas Summit. It’s an awesome truck and will go just about anywhere you want it to. I’ve even seen YouTube videos where they float on top of the water, pretty cool if you ask me. The Traxxas Slash 4×4 is up there pretty high on the popularity list as well. My Slash is the 4×4 brushless version and is sold as waterproof. It’s seen mud, snow, sand and even the bottom of the pool and never had an issue other than needing bearings replaced. That brings me back to the earlier statement saying that no car is completely waterproof, just water resistant. Even if the motor and ESC won’t be damaged, that doesn’t mean other parts of the car won’t be, like bearings or some rust on screws. You can however, perform regular maintenance to prolong the effects of these elements. Another option if you want a more scale look is to buy a rock crawler and add your own waterproof electronics. There is some really cool stuff you can do with PLASTI DIP to help make your favorite electronics more water resistant. Do a quick search on YouTube for “how to waterproof RC” and you’ll find a bunch of videos. Look for RC Sparks, his videos are very informative. Here are my top picks for RC’s that would be good for mudding. Traxxas Slash VXL 4WD 378.99 Traxxas E-maxx Brushed $428.97 Traxxas Summit 4WD $554.99 Axial SCX10 4WD $249.99 To see this article with pictures or for more information about RC cars and trucks, please visit www.partsrc.com
