Eccotopia has announced it intends to donate Megafolia Trees to various community greening initiatives. Cape Town, South Africa - Julian Moses, Chief Executive Officer at South Africa-based sustainable forestation company Eccotopia, Ltd., has announced that the company has decided to establish a community greening initiative that will donate Megafolia trees to various local community projects in a bid to address sustainable development through climate change action and reforestation. Mr. Moses said, “This is the first step of what we hope will become a regular and sustained effort on our part to give something back to the communities and the people therein who have helped make Eccotopia the company it is.” The announcement follows recent news of several significant orders received by Eccotopia for their Megafolia trees. The Megafolia tree is a cross-specimen hybrid of five different trees and is one of the fastest growing hardwood trees in the world. The Megafolia tree grows in almost any environment and can be harvested for lumber in the fifth year of its life. The hybrid’s lumber can be used for affordable housing projects, plywood and can be converted to activated charcoal for filtration systems, while its foliage can be used for biomass fuel energy.
