Cockroaches used to be found in dilapidated or older homes and they still are found there. The only difference today is that these primitive creatures are found almost everywhere today; grand hotel kitchens or new homes, these little ones leave their marking everywhere. Fortunately, there are methods, some traditional and some modern, have been developed and adopted in winning against cockroaches, not fighting against them as that is what we have been doing since man came to his senses. Eeks! I just saw a cockroach! Don’t panic, it’s not the end of the world. If you see presence of cockroach infestation, the first line of defence you may think of is to cut their food and water supply. Keep your home clean (that would take some efforts) as cleanliness is the arch nemesis of cockroach. Don’t leave food and water anywhere as you please and seal cracks and holes so that they are unable to find place to hide. Be a sincere person before going to bed. While this also may seem another herculean task, you need to e sincere- wash the dishes and don’t leave anything for the freaks to binge on. If you do not want to be Hercules, put the plates in the sink containing soapy water so that cockroaches don’t get to the plate. Dining table This table is used for dining not only by us but by the cockroaches too if it is not cleaned after your meal. Any crumbs or left-over may attract the leggy crawler. Close open food and store them properly; don’t let the roaches come near them. Ammunition Boric acid Now that you washed the dishes, cleared the dining table and closed the lids and you still see cockroaches lurking around. This is a dilemma. This is where we bring our second ammunition called the Boric Acid. It is a bait method traditionally followed since ages. Boric acid is poison for cockroaches. Boric Acid plus flour pellets, leave it on the floor and the cockroaches feed on them. Mission accomplished. Bait and Cage! This is another traditional system followed since time Cleopatra. You keep bait inside a cage that lures the cockroaches inside the trap. Once there, the trap is closed and the cockroaches die of starvation and dehydration. This is a lethal killing that is painful to give as well as hear and hence we do not suggest this method. Cockroach repellent Cockroach repellents are the ammo of modern era. Repellents come in pump or aerosol spray and their secret to kill roaches lies in the ingestion of vapours of the repellent that causes instant death for the insect. Sprays are toxic by nature and ought to be kept away from children. If you ask me, which is I assume that you have (at least thought of), I might prefer the repellent spray due to its sheer split-second effectiveness in giving result.
