Hot or cold? Well when it comes to buying a commercial pressure washer then that is only one question that you need to ask yourself, do you need a cold water model of a hot water one? It is a key consideration for sure particularly when investing in a commercial pressure washer as your investment could run in to thousands of pounds. If you opt for the more common cold water model be aware that you cannot simply bolt a heater on to it at a later date. You would have to buy a new model with a heater. A hot water pressure washer will always remove hardened dirt the fastest, but you need to ask yourself if the higher purchase cost and higher running costs justify themselves. If you are needing one to remove graffiti or other such tough stains on a regular basis then yes a heated model is the best one to go for. However if you do not have that need then opt for an un-heated model instead and save yourself some money. You also need to look at other key factors such as the water pressure they generate, as pressures can typically vary from 115 bar to 250 bar. Whilst doubling the pressure does not necessarily mean that it will remove dirt twice as fast, then it is certainly going to help to do so. Likewise you also need to look at the flow rates that the machines have. A smaller machine will typically flow 500 litres per hour, with larger machines having flow rates of up to 1000 litres per hour. Just note though that heated machines tend to have lower flow rates per hour than un-heated ones do, due to the extra time that the machine requires to heat the water. Other features to look out for are how easy the tools and spray head are to operate. On a big job the user could be having to hold down the spray heads trigger for hours at a time, and thus the pressure required to hold down the trigger can become a real issue as over a number of hours operator fatigue can become a real issue. Likewise it helps the ease of operation if the spray head tools are lightweight, as once again over a few hours the weight of holding the equipment can become a real issue. Following the above tips should see you buy the right pressure washer for the job.
