Waukesha The city of Waukesha is located in the county of Waukesha, Wisconsin. During the census conducted at 2012, the population of this place was 71,719 which made it the 7th largest community in the state and the largest in the county. The city is located very close to the town of Waukesha. This area was first inhabited during 1868. The first non-American settler of this area was david c. Morgan. History By 1848, this area was merged with the village of prairieville. On october 12, 1888, the name of the village was changed to "waukesha," and then, in 1897, it was established as a city. John brehm was the first appointed mayor of this city and he served from february till december of 1898. Waukesha is situated close to the center of the waukesha county in southwestern wisconsin, 19 miles (32 km) east of milwaukee. Waukesha’s also situated 60 miles (110 km) west of madison. As said by the census bureau of united states, the area covered by the city is 26.08 square miles (78.95 km2), out of which, 25.81 square miles is land & the rest’s water.
