Senior oil exploration officials at an unnamed natural gas fracturing site in southern Texas have enlisted Eccotopia’s phytoremediation expertise. Cape Town, South Africa - Julian Moses, CEO and Arial Haskins, Director of Operations at sustainable forestation company Eccotopia, Ltd. have been invited to provide their expertise and consultancy at an undisclosed natural gas drilling site in southern Texas where hydraulic fracturing is being utilized. The site which is operated by a major US oil corporation has recently been beset by problems linked to an increase in instances of the contamination of topsoil and a significant reduction in local freshwater availability as a result of fracking-based drilling at several wells. The request comes a week after Eccotopia announced that it had secured an order for 5,000 of its Megafolia trees from an American-based reforestation organization contracted by another large oil company to oversee restoration of a large area of land believed to be similarly afflicted. Mr. Moses says, “They [the oil corporation] wish to leverage Eccotopia’s extensive experience in this area with a view to implementing our expertise at several additional sites across the continental United States. They understandably wish to remain anonymous and Eccotopia have been asked to sign a confidentiality agreement”. Mr. Julian Moses and Mr. Arial Haskins’ visits are expected to last no more than 10 days after which they hope to secure further orders for the Megafolia product. The Megafolia© tree has been shown to be uniquely able to utilize waste mining water as the trees are cultivated, creating a welcome solution for the inherent mining waste water issues throughout the Republic of South Africa. Megafolia© trees are characteristically suited for the process of phytoremediation, as they are able to flourish utilizing polluted mining water which is an abundant by-product of the mining industry.
