Paleo Dieting in its simplest form is to eat like our ancestors in order to be fit and healthy like them. This style of dieting was followed by our ancestors for more than 2 million years until the invention of agriculture and wide spread practice of cultivation and harvesting which happened in the Neolithic Era (about 10,000 years ago). Once you are used to eating in the way which is optimal for your body there will be never turning back. Eating like a Hunter – Gatherer – The main reason for weight gain is not from the calories alone, it depends on the refined carbs and sugar which causes the sudden increase and variations in our blood sugar levels which signals the body to store energy in the form of fat. Consuming processed foods causes an increase in the waist line which eventually leads to various other related illnesses. Eating a diet which is made up of healthy fats and lesser carbs is the basic step for primal eating. Avoiding daily toxins – Pollutants in our atmosphere and water cannot be controlled by individuals but others can. Consume foods that are grown locally and organically whenever possible, buy your food in glass containers or in bulk, use natural skin products and cleaners. Move like a Hunter – Our ancestors walked, ran and did other physical activities throughout the day. Exercises were never prescribed for then since their day to day lifestyle involved tough activities. Hence, it is necessary to incorporate some kind of exercise on a daily basis along with the dieting pattern to achieve maximum benefits.
