Network marketing, often referred to as multi-level marketing, has always been the best model for achieving financial success. It is undeniable that this form of doing business has created more 6-figure and 7-figure earners in the history of business. In fact, network marketing is responsible for producing 200,000 millionaires. More than any other industry. But the bad stigma of multi-level marketing brought on by various scams that were in place early on has created a lot of displeasure for the profession. Nevertheless, for the surviving companies, this form of distribution still ranks number one. Network marketing has really come of age, and if you thought that you would never do this in your lifetime, you better think again. Prospecting/Inviting Then - In the past, prospecting and inviting would involve you making a long list of names. Family members, friends, co-workers, etc. You would reach out to them via the phone or in person and give them a formal invitation to the business opportunity meeting. This made sense because in the early days of multi-level marketing, we lived in a more communal society. People weren't afraid to talk to each other. So conversation in many respects was expected. Now - Conversation has taken a back seat to internet. Particularly to social networking sites. That "personal touch" has been replaced with Facebook, and Twitter. Making your list is now as simple as looking at your "Friends" or "Followers." But now you can communicate without that personal touch. Presenting Then - In the early days of network marketing, it was all about the "kitchen table." Meeting someone at the table was how you got the message out. Again, that personal human-to-human contact worked because there was no other way. Now - Forget about the kitchen table. The internet has changed the game. No more visiting a neighbor's house. No more dragging a friend to a library for a business opportunity meeting. Internet technology, particularly webinar technology, has made it easier to get the word out. This now takes network marketing and puts it on steroids. Before, you could only see about 10 people in a week. And that was considered a good week. Now the same 10 people can view the same webinar. So instead of 10 exposures, you can expose 70 people in a week. And you never have to give a presentation! Summary There are 2 other steps to the network marketing process (follow-up and close). Technology has made these steps simpler as well. Internet and webinar technology has launched network marketing into another stratosphere. You could literally enroll a business partner without ever speaking or seeing them. If your first exposure to network marketing was over 5 years ago, I highly encourage you to take another look.
