In defense market, things have changed a lot in last few decades. Russia is still the best bet of India when it comes to the defense procurement. Russia is still the biggest supplier of weapons for India with over sixty percent contribution. Indian defense personals are not happy with the weaponry from Russia so something is going against Russia in the Indian pan. Market is now shifting towards the china, and this is one of the reasons for conflict between two nations. Because of differences with the China, India is still highly dependent on the Russia. In current scenario when things are not going right with the Russian weapon industry, India is still contributing 25 percent in the total exports. In 2011, India had spent more than $3.3 billion on Russian arms. India has stepped out towards the self dependency in the defense sector but country still wants to entertain Russia by their imports. This export-import business is also a reason behind strong defense ties between India and Russia. Indian defense ministry has come with a new plan for the year 2013 in which they are planning for the 30 percent weapons to produce at home. India has started defense ties with many powerful nations like Israel, Turkey, France, England etc. This is disappointing news for the Russia that India has started knocking other doors. Technology share will make India a self dependent nation and Russia is likely to lose its biggest importer. In current scenario of world politics, India seems to be a nation that is slightly inclined towards the USA and slightly towards the Russia. Many countries who are hardcore Russian supporter like Iran, Syria etc are still buying weapons from there. India is the biggest importer of arms in the world and defense budget is far more than other arm importing countries. In the current scenario when Syria is likely to be attacked by USA and allies, Russian hopes have got energy. Arms industry is considered to be the second biggest industry after oil & gas in the whole world. Countries like USA, Israel, France, Russia are highly dependent on the earning from the arms. In the upcoming years, we may see that few rapidly developing nations will also become exporters of arms. India, Singapore and Brazil are likely to join party of arms exporters very soon. It is quite clear that there is a clear hint that Russia will lose India from the list of arm importers very soon. Improving defense infrastructure in India is a matter of concern for Russia.
