Microsoft Lync 2013 is a Unified communications platform for businesses in Vienna, VA. Lync Online however cannot be considered inferior to LyncServer since it has some additional features which make up for the loss offeatures from the Lync Server. Lync Online’s Web app enables users to launchLync Online through an HTML-5 based browser and run Lync from within. It allowsmulti-party conversation, HD video, instant messaging and PowerPoint sharing. TheWeb app can be run from PC, Mac, Windows phone, Androids and Apple devices.Multi-party HD video is enable in a grid-like manner where multiple streams ofvideo are displayed in the form of a gallery. One Note is also integrated into Microsoft Lync online andcan be accessed directly from the app. One Note can be used to take notes ofthe conference. The choice of a communications platform depends entirely onthe needs of the company. Although recommended that a company with internal communicationneeds should install Microsoft Lync Online and vice versa, there are multiple factors such as theprocess of setting up a server, cost of installation, transitioning fromprevious systems to a newer one and others that affect the choice of a UnifiedCommunications system.
