How to give a shabby chic look to your furniture

Business,Home Improvement,Interior Design
Many individuals nowadays have a fondness for shabby chic furniture. Shabby chic is a particular look which is a little bit scraped and although it seems to have classically features many products are new, but created to look old and endured by a particular way of implementing levels of colour. The furnishings are usually vintage and coloured in smooth white, pink or cream. The appearance furnishing gives itself to be placed anywhere in your house. The planning of the shabby look is the main source of the success and achievement of the look that you want to get.

Once you have selected that furniture piece you want to transform into shabby chic furniture, remove all the knobs and handles with a screw driver if you don’t wish to paint them otherwise leave them intact with the furniture. Now start scraping the upper surface of paint and varnish with sandpaper you can also use Nitromors chemical to remove paint and varnish skin of the furniture but extra precaution is also needed as it may also remove skin so wear protective clothes and choose a good airy place. Sandstone is the right and safe option in this prospective.

Once you are done with scrapping, wipe the furniture with warm water to remove dust and residue and leave it to get dried. Use primer as first coat but if the piece is in good condition you can use direct paint on it. You can use white chalk paint or any other white paint of your choice.

Go back with a second coat and hit inside the nooks and crannies. Use a small foam roller for the second coat and then finish with a quick top coat using the flat brush again. When applying the colour, always go towards the wood feed, keeping little colour on the paintbrush with a nice emaciated layer, thin coats are better than thick coats.

Allow each layer of paint to dry properly before painting the next. Now comes the shabby look stage distressing the furniture. Start rubbing the areas with sandstone that are considered to be more prone to face everyday wear and tear like around drawers, raised areas, handles & the top, edges, supporting legs etc. Now if you want the furniture piece as it is leave it in this way or apply a coat of soft clear wax or varnish as the wax or varnish protects the furniture's paint and any exposed wood that is left. With this your shabby chic furniture is ready to get placed in any room to add a bit rustic life impression.
