BEIJING, May 13 (Xinhua) - Third seeds Reinder Nummerdor/RichardSchuil of the Netherlands beat Italy's 14th seeds Paolo Nicolai andDaniele Lupo in straight sets in the men's final here Sundayafternoon to win their first ever FIVB Beach Volleyball SWATCHWorld Tour Grand Slam title with a perfect 7-0 record and split thetop prize of 43,000 U.S. dollars. Going into their fourth Grand Slam final with a 22-20 and 21-19 winover 11th seeds Jake Gibb/Sean Rosenthal of the United States inthe semifinals, the Dutch duo finally got a touch with the goldafter sweeping the 14th seeds from Italy 21-11 and 21-16 in 31minutes for their seventh straight victory in Beijing. "We are really happy to win our first Grand Slam title, it's veryimportant for us because it's the Olympic year and we want to beready for London," said Schuil. "It's really the first step andit's good preparation for the Olympic Games, because there were somany good team playing here." With Nicolai obviously affected by an injury to his stomach muscle,the Italians dropped the first set easily. As the Italian duosnapped a four-match losing streak to Alison/Emanuel, Lupo alsoreceived the Redbull MVP award for the first semifinal match. "I don't know (how we made it), it's incredible, because in onetournament we beat Rogers/Dalhusser and Emanuel/Alison, maybe thebest teams in the world," said Nicolai. "Emanuel, Rogers,Dalhausser are like my heroes, I can't image one day I can beatthese players, it's fantastic moment for us." "When you play a team like Emanuel/Alison, you just have to play100 perfect of your ability and maybe we have done that today," headded.
