Why will we preserve Vrat or fast, or take vow? The underside line of doing any of them is to achieve material beneficial properties, whether or not cash, consolation, wife, children, husband, household life, prosperity, fame, studying, defeating enemies, pleasing any planet and many others etc. Since the level of a quick (and of all different Upaaya) is to make things higher, not worse, in one's life, you should select a quick in response to your capacity and circumstances. Although the very best quick is to abstain from all the pieces, including water, but when your physical condition doesn't permit this, do not attempt it. Subsequent finest is to live on water solely, and the next on fruits only. Thereafter we enter the realm of mono-diets - reminiscent of consuming just one sort of grain, or one sort of thing (reminiscent of solely rice or wheat, barley etc); some of these are inclusive (corresponding to "milk solely"), whereas others are unique (reminiscent of "no salt"). Another type of quick is to abstain a sure food for some variety of weeks or months. Mostly Vrat are stored with out taking water for complete the day. If it is not doable, then take water as soon as or twice. One can eat fruits also (means no grains and no salt) in the daytime, if one cannot stay with out meals the entire day. Eat only in the evening (earlier than or after sundown) once only. Generally, a mother-to-be or a mother of a new child youngster, could also be given milk once or twice in the day time. Or children can eat some fruits within the day time. But virtually all fasts abstain grains and salt twice a day. Each quick has its own instructions, however usually when it is prescribed "take food only as soon as", one can eat normal food - wheat flour, greens, sweets, yogurt (yogurt and other bitter things are prohibited in Friday Vrat) etc. However when it is prescribed "no meals, only fruits", one eats either fruits, milk and yogurt; or there is one grain named "buckwheat" which isn't counted as grain could be eaten. Its flour can be used to make Paraathaa or Pooree. In any kind of Vrat, people do not desire to eat Chapaatee (Rotee, or Phulkaa), Daal, boiled rice, or even fried rice, it is a widespread practice within the western UP . They would eat Paraathaa, Pooree, potato, yam, pumpkin (Kaddoo, or Kumhadaa), yogurt, salt and black pepper. Green greens, resembling spinach, green beans, Laukee (white gourd) Karelaa (bitter gourd), Bengan (Brinjal or eggplant), ginger, inexperienced coriander leaves and so on, too many spices will not be eaten on this diet.
