The graphic design, especially designed application, is closely related to printing jobs. Although it has beautiful and creative design, without the right choice of materials or any carelessness in the printing process will not be able to bring the finally desired results. 1. The common types of printing materials Paper Quantitative (g/m2) means the weight of a sheet of paper with an area of ??1m2. Knowing the amount of paper can help you to compare the thickness of the paper. For example, paper D500 (1m2 of paper weighs 500g) is thicker than the D300 paper. Fort Paper: common paper, A4 is the most popular. Quantification is usually 70-80-90g/m2 with roughness surface, good stick with ink, is used for envelopes, invoices, books, notebooks... Bristol Paper: Paper with slightly glossy surface, smooth, moderately good stick with ink, often used in soap box, cosmetic containers, pharmaceutical packages, brochures, business cards, flyers, posters, cards... Quantity: 230 - 350g/m2. Ivory Paper: That is similar to Bristol Paper, with only one smooth surface, another is rough surface, usually located on the inside of the product (if paper is used for packaging of food, it must be quality tested). Couché Paper: Plain paper with a smooth glossy surface giving bright, sleek and eye-catching prints which is used to print brochures, catalogs, posters... Quantification: 90 - 300g/m2. Besides, there is also Couche Matt which is similar but not reflects light, commonly used to print high-classed magazines. Duplex Paper: with white and smooth in one surface which is similar to Bristol, the other side is usually dark as cardboard. It is often used in the product box with big size because it’s hard, and stable with the quantitative measurement approximately 300g/m2. There are also other kinds of art paper such as gold, silver, carbon paper, cardboard and some other special types being used in printing ...like T-shirt printing, or also leather printing. 2. Some notes for efficient printing Before printing, we should check carefully the layout, colors, details, and images... to correct any errors, even a very small error such as grammar, punctuation…right before of printing them out. Obviously this is really expensive and time consuming. Printing posters often uses the common size around 40x60 cm, 50x75 cm, 60x80 cm with the high-quality Couché paper to ensure a good color and reasonable thickness, suitable for posting the posters in any public places. After printing, posters are often rolled up with a plastic film on the surface in order to increase the sharp color and surface protection.
