Montreal police investigators also said that the right foot, rightleg and the head of Jun Lin, 33, are still missing. Lin's torso was discovered in a suitcase outside a Montrealapartment building last week, sparking an international manhunt forMagnotta that Montreal police Commander Ian Lafreniere called thebiggest in the Montreal force's history, involving policedepartments in 190 countries through Interpol and the help of 30investigators from France's national fugitive search unit, once itwas confirmed Magnotta flew to Paris from Montreal. Magnotta was arrested Monday in an Internet cafe in Berlin. An 18-hour search of the trash behind Magnotta's apartment thatturned up body parts, bloodied clothing and papers bearingMagnotta's name helped identify the suspect, as did videos fromoutside apartment building and the post office from which he isalleged to have mailed a foot to Conservative Party headquarters inOttawa, and another body part to the federal Liberal Party. DNA evidence released Tuesday morning confirmed all body partsfound came from Lin. The head of the victim was cut off overnightMay 24-25. Investigations are under way in several jurisdictions whereMagnotta lived, but there is no confirmation he was involved inother crimes. He is suspected of killing cats and posting videos ofthe acts online. Federal authorities in Germany and Canada are working out thedetails of his extradition to Canada to face a trial here. In Berlin, Magnotta has indicated he will not fight extraditionback to Canada, German authorities said Tuesday. German police spokesman Stefan Redlich said the 29-year-oldCanadian made a brief court appearance Tuesday at a Berlin policestation. "He told the judge he would not object to his return toCanada," Redlich said. Martin Steltner, a lawyer and spokesman for the state prosecutor'soffice, said that once a judge approves Magnotta's extradition, theGerman government must also give its permission for Magnotta to bedeported. Redlich said Magnotta a former stripper and pornographic actor refused to discuss any other details of his case with the judge. Magnotta had spent the night alone in a prison cell after hisarrest Monday at an Internet cafe. Magnotta made his brief appearance behind closed doors before aGerman judge Tuesday at a massive police station. The glass andconcrete structure sits across the street from the former alliedairbase at Tempelhof, which served as the city's lifeblood duringthe Berlin airlift crisis more than 60 years ago. Redlich said he had visited the Canadian in his cell before thecourt appearance. Guards at the detention centre described Magnotta as "quitemeek," Redlich said. "They told me that he had passed aquiet night without incident. "He was wearing clothes given to him by the police. He wasasleep on a wooden bed with a mattress in a tidy German prison cellthat measures 1.5 metres by five metres." Redlich said the Canadian had bread and jam for breakfast. "Healso had a light meal of bread and cheese last night." Magnotta was being held in the same prison at Tempelhof whereanother man had been brought in Monday and charged with beheadinghis wife before six of their children in a case that has attractedeven more media interest than that of Magnotta. Magnotta was arrested by a German police training team consistingof one police and six cadets. They were flagged down as theyhappened to be passing an Internet cafe where a worker recognizedMagnotta from Internet photos and stories about the case. Authorities say the Canadian had been looking looked at pornographyand stories about himself on the web at the back of the SpaetkaufInternet cafe in the Neukoelln, or New Cologne, district of Berlin, where many of this city's Turks, Kurds and Arabs live. "I think the reaction of the German police waswonderful," Redlich said. "It shows that they can arresta dangerous man without a fight." German police have been investigating where he spent his time sincearriving by bus from Paris on Friday. After reaching Paris fromMontreal on an Air Canada flight, Magnotta apparently met at leastone and possibly two different men with whom he made haverelationships. Although he spoke French poorly, he had spent timein Paris in 2010. Steltner said that when offered the choice of a shared cell or tobe alone, Magnotta chose to be alone. "There is no international arrest warrant for him because weonly get these from other European Union countries, but it waslegal to arrest him," Steltner said. "We have asked theCanadians for this information pending his extradition. TheCanadians know this and will send us what we require. It is normalfor this to usually take a few days." Magnotta's case was being handled by a special unit within theprosecutor's officer that deals exclusively with extraditions,Steltner said. Born Eric Clinton Newton in Toronto, Magnotta grew up in the suburbof Scarborough. He changed his name in 2006. He also sometimes wentby the alias Vladimir Romanov. fisherrmatthew@hotmail.com.
