Nature of Business Partnerships Small businesses are often handled by a single owner. When a business grows and expands, often the single ownership model changes into the partnership model. More the partners, better is the business managed. However, when there are too many partners, ownership issues raise their ugly head. Partnership conflicts often come in the way of the growth of the business. There are a lot of factors involved like the number of assets, their present value, taxation, insurance, foreclosure, discounted cash flow modeling, condemnation, and bankruptcy. These make business valuations really tough. Unless a business is valued correctly, partnership disputes cannot be settled. Wrong valuations of business also lead to further problems like one of the partners filing legal accusations. Business Valuations Hiring the help of business appraisal services is of utmost importance in evaluating the price of your complete business along with the details of its various assets. These appraisers are a third party; hence there is no question of bias. Bias in business valuations often results when there is an internal financial accountant evaluating the price of the various business assets. He could be influenced by one of the partners and have vested interests. This risk is eliminated when external parties like the business appraisal services are hired. These appraisers inspect business properties thoroughly, go through various documents provided by the owners, and calculate the actual price based on the fair market value. So, when the evaluation is fair, the division will be too. All the partners involved in the business dissolution process will take a fair share of the cake, pie, or nugget, whatever the state and price of the business is. All the bloodshed, badmouthing, and cold war are avoided peacefully when a business appraisal process kicks in.
