Painting a room is quite the process. In order for it to be done right, there must be a lot of time and thinking put into it. A good paint job will stick around for many years, while a bad one will peel away from the wall within months. Special steps must be taken to ensure that the painting is done properly. Boston commercial painters use the following process to paint one room alone. How to Paint a Room First, you must gather all the tools necessary to paint the room. A color must be chosen and the paint must be bought. There will be primer and a final coat to put on top as well. You will also need a paint pan and a roller, a paintbrush, and painter's tape. Sandpaper should be nearby, as well as a bucket of water to rinse the brush. A newspaper or a tarp may be helpful as well. To get the room ready for painting, move everything out of the room or into the center of it. Take everything off the walls. Cover the things still inside the room with the tarp or newspaper. If the wall already has a layer of paint on it, clean the wall by wiping it down with soap and water. This will help the paint stick better. Look for any sharp edges from nail holes or similar things, and sandpaper them smooth. Remove all outlet and light switch covers. Cover the edges of the floor and other items with painter's tape. Boston commercial painters use a roller and paintbrush to put the primer on, then they put a couple layers of paint, and the top coat on. Wait for them to dry in between each coat, and leave a window open for it to air out. Remove the tape and touch up any spots.
