When people think of rewarding careers and jobs they can hold, one job that frequently is mentioned by people all over is teaching. Teaching has been a vital profession since humanity first organized itself into societies. Parents are the first teachers, followed by society itself, and then as public and private schools became commonplace, the school teacher became the person primarily responsible for educating future generations. Today, school teachers in many countries around the world earn a great deal of respect for their work. Their pay is often not as high as it should be; teachers are, after all, forming the next generation that will decide what happens in the future. Many people have the desire to become a teacher at some point in their lives. Some discover that teaching is exactly what they want to do with their lives. For others it's simply a temporary job that fulfills some present desires. Many people like to travel abroad to teach and there are plenty of volunteer opportunities to do so. The Academy is located in Cambodia where it helps students from poor areas get a high-quality education designed to help them secure a good future and a good career. Jay Pritzker Academy often works with a variety of volunteer teachers from all over, especially for English teaching. If you're looking to head overseas to teach, there are a variety of organizations and resources available that can help you in your search. There is a specific program available at George Mason University. It's called the FAST TRAIN Foreign Affairs Spouses Teacher Training Project. It helps people prepare for international assignments and gives them the skills to teach overseas. Another option is using some resources for finding international teaching work. The International Educator, or (TIE), is a non-profit organization which helps schools overseas find capable and talented teachers to fill their rosters. The organization works with over 500 overseas schools and helps volunteers and professionals find work abroad. All of these schools are independent but were started by American citizens living in their respective countries overseas. Lastly, two service-oriented ways you can teach overseas is through the United States Peace Corps or the Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program. Both services are about helping the people of the country where you go to teach and are demanding in their own ways.
