The World Wide Web has changed the world a lot. This is because almost all things can now be done digitally. Even transcribing medical records can now be done online too. This age is, indeed, the era of computers and internet. Now, if you are wondering how EMR or electronic medical record transcription services work online, it is divided into three (3) steps or phases. These are specifically the service application, then the actual medical transcription and, finally, the delivery of the transcribed medical record. The turnaround time is dependent on the length or duration of the medical record to be transcribed. Service Application The first phase of the process is the service application. This is the time when the client contacts the firm or announces a project opening. For the former, it would be the client who will initiate the inquiry or service application directly to the EMR transcription service provider. For the latter, the client will still initiate the process, but through a project announcement. Any medical transcriptionist can apply for the project, whether a firm or a freelancer. The client will then negotiate the terms and conditions with the shortlisted providers. This phase ends when the deal has already been closed between the parties. Medical Transcription The second phase is the actually rendering of the online EMR transcription services. Before that, the recording has to be sent first to the service providers. Using a hand-held digital recorder, the client will need to record the dictations. Afterwards, the recorder has to be connected to the computer in order to transfer the file. The audio fill then be sent to the provider through e-mail. The size of the recording will matter here because e-mails limit the size of documents that we can attach to an electronic message. There are times that the client has to cut the recording to several parts so that it can be digitally forwarded. Service Delivery The third and final step in an online EMR transcription is the delivery of the transcribed dictations. This is after the actual transcription has been done. However, most of the companies implement a quality control in order to check if the transcriptions are accurate and correct. There are some companies that do this word by word in order to fully check its 100% accuracy. There are also some service providers that only do this in random method. What this means is that they pick some specific parts of the recording and check if those are correctly transcribed. While this is faster, it does not give full assurance to the client. Hence, the client would usually prefer the first quality control system since it gives them the maximum guarantee for the delivered transcription.
