So many charities; So many ways; I want to make a difference to animals – where do I start? It’s true, deciding that you want to make a difference to the lives of animals by supporting rescue organizations or a shelter is the easy part! With so many champions for cats and dogs in need, the hardest part is to decide how you want to approach your support of rescue. Here are a few simple ways for you to consider: Sending a monetary donation: I truly believe in thinking globally when it comes to helping animals and so we've rounded up some great organizations for you to consider that will put your donation - no matter how big or small - to good use. Most rescues have made it easy to make a contribution on-line and so you can do this over a coffee in a break in your day. Donating items of high need: Shelters always need food, litter, dishes and bedding; the essentials. But they also need toys and treats. Many people donate all these items to their favorite rescue or shelter by ordering items through on-line retailers and having the items delivered directly to the organization. This is a great way to help an organization in another part of the country or even a worthwhile cause elsewhere in the globe. Supporting an activity that supports animal rescues or shelters: You can do this in two ways. You can provide goods that can be sold at a fund raising event or you can attend the event and buy some of the wonderful things offered for sale. The proceeds will go to the organization and help them to cover the costs involved in looking after for the animals in their care. Support a business that supports animal rescue: Many businesses and professional individuals donate funds to rescue or shelters from the funds they generate from their business activities. It may be a restaurant who holds a special event and donates a portion of their evening’s takings to rescue. It could be a real estate agent who will contribute a percentage of their commission to an animal organization or an on-line store that uses their sales to support rescue. The types of businesses are endless. The fact is that you can make a difference to animals in need as you go about your life buying the products and services that you want and need. Art and animal rescue: As an artist and an animal lover, I like to combine my career as an artist with my support of animal rescue. Many of my colleagues around the world do the same. Through a specially designed fundraising program I offer prints and greeting cards for sale and contribute funds raised from the sale of these items to well-deserving rescues around the world. My art prints are purchased by people around the world and it is certainly a win-win-win situation for all; the art collector gets a piece of art for their home or office or a gift for a special person in their lives. The rescue receives vital funds to support their wonderful efforts and I get to do the two things that I love…paint art and help animals! So as you can see, there are many ways that you can help rescue and most of it you can do from the comfort of your home and your laptop, pad or cell phone.
