We all know the adage, “Charity begins at home”. This is true enough, but are we referring to ourselves as individuals or a collective in our country. There are plenty of organisations out there today but sometimes countries have such simple infrastructures that they are unable to meet their own needs. This is where International Charities come to the fore. By helping others in crisis, we are channelling opportunities for individuals and companies to aid such charities and therefore, the communities they support. When people hear the word charity they tend to presume this relates to feeding the poor or sheltering the homeless. International charities are not limited to just feeding or housing schemes. They can be suppliers of educational materials, agricultural equipment or infrastructure support. Although the basic needs for any country are food, water and shelter, helping with the knowledge to understand the use of their own resources can lead to phenomenal growth. But such expansion, like everything, requires financial boosting too. To do this, it has to be resourced from elsewhere. This is where Charities help. Monies sourced from large corporate sponsorships right down to hand collections in the street, are all ways to generate donations. Such companies normally have a programme in place to donate the proceeds of certain items or services sold, into these organisations. In return, they sometimes receive recognition for their efforts in the form of tax relief and the like. These are usually channelled into registered organisations whose sole purpose is to help other nations. Naturally, those more developed countries are able to contribute more due to their substantial knowledge and wealth. Some supply donations in the form of corporate companies sending knowledgeable craftsman or suitably educated engineers to provide knowledge and skills needed for expansion of programmes already in place. These are usually funded by the corporates through their own donation schemes. All forms of help are greatly appreciated and nothing goes to waste. All international charitable funds are registered and are considered tax free. They are regularly audited to rule out corruption and indiscretion. Donating in any capacity to a charitable enterprise of any description whether local or international, has its own rewards. Next time you have a corporate event to organise, consider making it in aid of an International Charity to some degree. You will find that most companies are only too happy to donate to good causes!
