Panic attacks are always stressful. When a panic attack starts, and you don't know what it is, you can become overpowered by the symptoms and petrified. If you are not prone to panic or anxiety disorders, correctly identifying a panic attack can be difficult. Still, many people who suffer from an anxiety disorder, such as panic attacks, just accept them as a state they have to live with. There are many solutions to panic attacks, however; both self-applied and with the help of a trained psychotherapist. You can find a lot of methods for treating a panic attack. How severe and how often do you have panic attacks? Answering these two questions will help you pinpoint the best techniques to use to overcome them. It could be effective for you as well. You get hugged as well. After all, hugs are great. As soon as you realize that your having panic attacks you should go see a doctor. Panic attacks can actually be caused by certain medical conditions that you did not know you had, and a doctor will be able to figure out if that is the case. Your physician can run some tests and find out if there is a physical or hormonal reason for your attacks. Medication is something that your physician can recommend to help you to keep your panic attacks in check.

When a panic attack starts and you are frightened, you may find it difficult to breath, but it is very important to try to relax and take slow, deep breaths. It's easy to learn how to do deep abdominal-breathing the right way. This breathing technique will allow you to stay relaxed until you get control of the attack. So, learn how to take cleansing breaths and when the overwhelm begins, relax, shut your eyes, and breath correctly. Hyperventilating is a problem for some people and they habitually have a small paper bag close at hand to breath into. Sometimes relaxing and deep breathing don't bring relief. At that time - while continuing to do your correct deep breathing - slowly lower your head between your knees. Eventually the attack will pass.

Rather than trying something on your own, seek advice from with a doctor or clinical psychologist for help with these situations. Panic attacks, exceptionally hereditary ones like Wilson's disease, ought to be treated clinically instead of doing something by yourself. Your psychotherapist will be able to help you recognize and deal with any emotional and mental triggers that bring them on.
